Wayne Dyer

August 2025 marked ten years since the passing of Dr. Wayne Dyer. For those familiar with his work, they were likely inspired and moved by his philosophy, his wit, and his wisdom.

I, for one, got to see him speak in person a few years before his death. He was already ill but still possessed the spirit and vitality to touch every heart in the room with his words and demeanor.

Born Wayne Walter Dyer in 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, his 75 years produced over 40 books, including 20+ New York Times bestsellers. He earned a doctorate in educational counseling and served as an associate university professor. He spoke around the world and produced numerous audio and video recordings.

Dr. Dyer was best known for his work in personal development and self-improvement. He was extremely well-read in the Eastern philosophies and dedicated his life to delivering the message that everyone has the potential to live an extraordinary life and manifest their deepest desires.

One video that I want to highlight as an example is titled There are NO Justified Resentments – link in References.

Dyer explains that resentment will always harm you, akin to the venom from a snake bite. If you carry this burden around as an excuse for the condition of your life, it will only yield despair and ruin.

Instead of focusing on past wrongdoings, he advises to accept what happened as yours and take responsibility for it.

Be willing to say, “I am here because of the choices that I have made.”

This is the point where control of your life is back in your own hands. This frees you from what you used to be.

Resentment is self-defeating and allows others to manipulate your emotional life.

Ownership is self-empowering and opens the door to a better life.

I encourage you to explore Wayne Dyer’s works and uncover the gold nuggets for yourself.

The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.

With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose.

Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.

Every thought you have has an energy that will either strengthen or weaken you.

~ Wayne Dyer

Love is my gift to the world.

I fill myself with love, and I send that love out into the world.

How others treat me is their path.

How I react is mine.

~ Wayne Dyer 1940 – 2015

Rest in peace.
